Ultrasonic Dental Cleaner
We use the ultrasonic teeth cleaning technique. This uses traditional
dental hand instruments alongside a hi-tech ultrasonic ‘scaler’ – set
at a low power setting. This procedure produces a ‘cleaner clean’ than
with hand instruments alone. That’s due to the water flow of the
ultrasonic instrument tip. This instrument is also narrower than many of
our hand instruments and takes the place of most of the uncomfortable
“scraping” you might associate with teeth cleaning. This ‘hybrid’
approach provides a very gentle and pain-free deep cleaning for your
teeth.Deep cleaning is generally a first step in Periodontal Disease
Treatment and doesn’t always involve injected local anesthetic. We can
use a topical local anesthetic that will not keep your mouth numb for
hours after the appointment. We see very good results with our deep
cleaning dental treatments and we work closely with the periodontist, or
gum specialist, to jointly manage your periodontal disease recovery. What is the difference between a “regular” and a “deep” cleaning for
teeth? A regular or routine cleaning is generally done when your gum
measurements are within normal limits. If inflammation in your gums and
bone has advanced to a point where there is a deep gum trough around the
teeth and you have experienced some bone loss, you will likely need a
deep cleaning dental treatment.
